RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No. 2002-373 amending the Unclassified Salary Schedule effective
January 6,2003.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
On January 23,2001, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 2001-22 revising the
Unclassified Salary Schedule. The job classification listed on the Unclassified Salary
Schedule is that of Management Intern. The Management Intern classification is not linked to
range adjustments given to other fill-time employees. However, staff recommends adjusting
the range in a matter that is comparable to increases given to full-time staff. Therefore, staff
recommends adjusting the Management Intern salary range by four percent (4%) per year for
2002 and 2003 so that the salary range effective January 6,2003 would be $1417 to $1490 bi-
weekly.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The fiscal impact of adjusting the Unclassified Salary Structure is approximately $1 100. This
reflects the cost of adjusting the salary of the Management Intern to the minimum of the
salary range after the range adjustment has been made. Funding for this adjustment is
included in the fiscal year 2002/2003 General Fund budget.

RESOLUTION NO. 2002-373
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING A
REVISED UNCLASSIFIED SALARY SCHEDULE
WHEREAS, the City Council requires revisions in the salary schedule for unclassified
employees that are .comparable to revisions to the salary ranges of other full-time classifications.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad,
California, as follows:
1. That the above recitation is true and correct.
2. That the Unclassified Salary Schedule (Attachment A) attached hereto is hereby
approved and adopted.
PASSED, APPROVED, AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Carlsbad
City Council held on the 17th day of DECEMBER , 2002, by the following
.- vote, to wit:
AYES: Council Members Lewis, Finnila, Kulchin, Hall, Packard

ABSENT: None
