APPROVAL OF PURCHASE OF FORD TRUCKS
CITY MGR
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No.2003--074 approving the purchase of five Ford pickup trucks from Raceway
Ford.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
Funds are appropriated in the 2002-2003 fiscal year budget for the purchase of one F150 and four
F350 pickup trucks to replace vehicles currently in the fleet that have exceeded the age and mileage
requirements of the City's vehicle replacement program.
In accordance with Section 3.28.050 of the Municipal Code, Notice to Bidders was mailed to fifteen
vendors. On February 27, 2003 five responses were received, opened, witnessed and recorded. In
accordance with the Municipal Code, a best value evaluation was completed. The bids were
evaluated by staff for cost, delivery schedule, conformance to specifications and any unspecified
value added offerings. The bid submitted by Raceway Ford was determined to be the best value.
The bid was also the lowest cost for the five vehicles.
Total cost for the five trucks is $124,066.80 including sales tax.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Unencumbered funds are available in the Vehicle Replacement Capital Outlay Account for the
purchase of the vehicles.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE
OF FIVE FORD TRUCKS
WHEREAS, the City of Carlsbad wishes to purchase five Ford pickup trucks; and
WHEREAS, Section 3.28.050 of the Carlsbad Municipal Code provides that materials and
services costing over thirty thousand dollars must be obtained through formal bidding procedures;
and:
WHEREAS, bid proposals were submitted by five vendors, and the bid of Raceway Ford
was determined to be the best value to the City.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad as
follows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
2. That the Purchasing Officer is hereby authorized and directed to issue a purchase order
to Raceway Ford, 5900 Sycamore Canyon Blvd, Riverside CA 92507 in the amount of
$1 24,066.80 including sales tax.
PASSED, APPROVED, AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City
of Carlsbad held on the 25th day of MARCH , 2003, by the following vote, to wit:
AYES: Council Members Lewis, Finnila, Hall, Packard
