DEPT. HD.
CITY ATTY. @
ICITY MGR. %%L.-
ON COMPENSATION I
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Introduce Ord ina nce No. NS-666
Municipal Code to adjust the compensation of the City Clerk . amending section 2.08.030 of the Carlsbad
ITEM EXPLANATION:
Government Code section 36517 provides that the City Clerk shall receive a
compensation fixed by ordinance or resolution.
The City adjusted the City Clerks compensation in the years of 1968, 1973, 1980,
1983, 1985, 1989, 1997 and 2001. The City Clerk’s current compensation is $800 per
month. Since the last adjustment in compensation for the Office of the City Clerk, the
volume of documents processed through that office has increased dramatically and it
is appropriate to adjust the compensation of the office to reflect this increase. The
proposed ordinance adjusts the City Clerks compensation by $80 per month.
The salary adjustment would become effective 30 days after adoption of the ordinance
and be retroactive to January 1, 2003.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The fiscal impact resulting from this action will be an increase in compensation of the
City Clerk of $80 per month for a total annual fiscal impact of $960.
