TITLE : ACCEPTANCE OF DONATIONS
FY 2002-03 KRUGER HOUSE PRESCHOOL CITY ATTY@-*
CITY MGR~
RECOMMENDED ACTION :
Adopt Resolution No. 2003-268 , accepting the Kruger House Preschool Benefit Committee’s
donation of equipment, field trip admissions, and teacher educational conference registrations
valued at $1,795 for Fiscal Year 2002-03 Kruger House Preschool program.
ITEM EXPLANATION :
The Kruger House Benefit Committee is a parent-teacher support group for the Kruger House
Parent-Participation Preschool Program. It was established in 1982 for the specific purpose of
raising funds to help subsidize the program budget. All parents of children enrolled in Kruger
House classes are members of this group and help decide where raised funds are spent. A
steering committee made up of one teacher and two parents plan fundraising activities and make
suggestions to be voted on by the membership.
The Kruger House Benefit Committee raised $1,795 in support of the Fiscal Year 2002-03 Kruger
House Preschool program. The parents voted to spend these funds on equipment, field trip
admissions, and teacher educational conference registrations for the Fiscal Year 2002-03 Kruger
House Parent-Participation Preschool Program.
On June 16, 2003, the Parks and Recreation Commission accepted the Kruger House Benefit
Committee’s support of equipment, field trip admissions, and teacher educational conference
registrations valued at $1,795 and recommended acceptance by the City Council.
A letters of appreciation has been sent on behalf of the Recreation Department to the Kruger
House Benefit Committee.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The value associated with the support of equipment, field trip admissions, and teacher
educational conference registrations offsets the actual costs incurred in providing the Preschool
program. In order to maintain the high caliber program of the Kruger House Preschool Program,
the cost of providing the $1,795 of support is an expense, which would otherwise be requested of
the General Fund.
