The following organizations offered donations of $61 90 cash and $1 3,660 in product or in-kind
services in support of this event.

TOTAL DONATIONS = $19,850
FISCAL IMPACT:
The cost associated with the donated services and products offset the actual cost of providing
this special event. In order to maintain the caliber, integrity and notoriety that currently exists
for the Carlsbad Triathlon, the cost of providing the $1 3,660 of donated products, goods and
services is an expense, which would otherwise be required of the General Fund. The $6190 in
cash donations has been deposited into the Recreation Triathlon Donations account #I 49-
4502-5651.
On September 15,2003 the Parks and Recreation Commission recommended that these
donations totaling $19,850 be accepted by the City Council.
Letters of appreciation have already been sent on behalf of the Recreation Department and the
City of Carlsbad to all of the businesses and organizations.

RESOL~ON NO. 2003-282
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAFUSBAD,
CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING DONATIONS OF $6 190 IN CASH AND $13,660 IN
OF THE 2003 CARLSBAD TRIATHLON.
MERCHANDISE AND IN-KIND SERVICES FOR A TOTAL OF $19,850 IN SUPPORT
WHEREAS, the Carlsbad Triathlon was held on June 7' & S", 2003 in Carlsbad; and
WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to accept the donations of cash, merchandise, and in-kind
service donations totaling $19,850 in support of the Carlsbad Triathlon, a copy of which is attached hereto and
made a part hereof; and
WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to acknowledge the generosity and support of community
vendors and organizations that donated to this special event ; and
WHEREAS, on September 15, 2003 the Parks and Recreation Commission received
individual donations and in kind services totaling $19,850 and recommends acceptance by the Council.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad,
California, as follows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
2. That the City Council does hereby accept $6,190 in cash and $13,660 in merchandise and in-kind
service donations totaling $19,850.
3. That the City Council hereby authorizes the Finance Director to appropriate the above funds, for the
use specified by the donators into the following account: $6,190 into Triathlon Trust Special
Supplies, account #149 4502 7899,
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Carlsbad City Council held on
the 28th day of October ,2003 by the following vote, to wit:
