ADOPTION OF ORDINANCE NO. NS-680
ESTABLISHING A PRIMA FACIE SPEED LIMIT
UPON A PORTION OF
CARLSBAD VILLAGE DRIVE
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Ordinance No. NS-680 amending Title IO, Chapter 10.44 of the Carlsbad Municipal
Code by the amendment of Section 10.44.080 to establish a Prima Facie 40 Mile Per Hour
Speed Limit upon Carlsbad Village Drive from Highland Drive to its intersection with College
Boulevard.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
Ordinance No. NS-680 was introduced and first read at the City Council meeting held on
November 4, 2003. The second reading allows the City Council to adopt the ordinance,
which would then become effective in thirty days. The City Clerk will have the ordinance
published within fifteen days, if adopted.

ORDINANCE NO. NS-680
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING TITLE 10, CHAPTER
10.44, OF THE CARLSBAD MUNICIPAL CODE BY THE
AMENDMENT OF SECTION 10.44.080 TO ESTABLISH A PRIMA
FACIE 40 MILE PER HOUR SPEED LIMIT UPON CARLSBAD
VILLAGE DRIVE FROM HIGHLAND DRIVE TO ITS
INTERSECTION WITH COLLEGE BOULEVARD.
The City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, hereby ordains as follows:
SECTION 1: That Title 10, Chapter 10.44, of the Carlsbad Municipal Code is amended
by the revision of Section 10.44.080 to read as follows:
“1 0.44.080 Carlsbad Village Drive:
(a) Highland Drive, the prima facie speed limit shall be thirty-five miles per hour.
Upon Carlsbad Village Drive from Pi0 Pic0 Drive to its intersection with
(b) College Boulevard, the prima facie speed limit shall be forty miles per hour.”
Upon Carlsbad Village Drive from Highland Drive to its intersection with
EFFECTIVE DATE: This ordinance shall be effective thirty (30) days after its adoption and
the City Clerk, City of Carlsbad, shall certify to the adoption of this ordinance and cause it to be
published at least once in a newspaper of general circulation in the City of Carlsbad within fifteen
(1 5) days after its adoption.

4th dayof November , 2003, and thereafter,
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Carlsbad City Council
held on the 18th day of November , 2003 by the following vote, to wit:
