RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No. 2003- 348 , Resolution No. 2003- 349 , and Resolution No.
2003- 350 appointing three members to the Board of Directors for the Foundation
for Carlsbad Community Cable Television.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
The term of Ralph Marchioni expires in January, 2004. Mr. Marchioni was originally
appointed in February, 1996.
The term of Nicole Pappas expires in January, 2004.
appointed in February, 1999.
The term of Don Polese expires in January, 2004. Mr. Polese was originally appointed
in January, 2000.
The other Council appointed Directors are James Bradley and Mike Pfankuch.

Dear Mayor Lewis:
I am writing to officially inform you of my desire to not be reappointed for
another term to the Carlsbad Community Television Foundation board after my
term expires in January, 2004. I am honored to have served you and the City
Council on the board for the past four years, and was particularly honored to
have been selected Chairman for the second half of my term. I am very
impressed with the programming that has come before the Foundation for
approval, and the fine work of the producers and managers at Adelphia in
executing our diverse offerings.
I will for the first time be serving a three-year term as an elder at my church,
which is going to add at least 15-20 hours to my volunteer hours each week.
Putting this significant calling on top of my frequent coast-to-coast travel with
Packard Government Affairs has unfortunately necessitated this request.
I will be happy to serve until you have selected a replacement, even if it takes
well into 2004, to ensure continuity on the board. Again, I am honored to have
served our outstanding City in this capacity, and stand ready to help in other
ways should I be called upon.
