Adopt Resolution No. 2004- 030 accepting a donation of two thousand dollars ($2,000) from
the Carlsbad Christmas Bureau in support of the Northwest Quadrant (Pine) Park Tot-Lot and
appropriation of funds.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
On November 18, 2003, the City received a donation of two thousand dollars ($2,000) from the
Carlsbad Christmas Bureau. The Bureau donated the funds to go specifically towards the
purchase of an additional piece of playground equipment or to upgrade the proposed Tot-Lot
equipment for the park. During the next several months, staff will be finalizing the design for the
park at which time we will evaluate whether or not a small piece of equipment is viable for the
Tot-Lot area or an upgrade is more appropriate.
Upon receipt of this donation on December 15, 2003, the Parks and Recreation Commission
unanimously recommended acceptance by the City Council. A letter of appreciation has been
sent to the Carlsbad Christmas Bureau on behalf of the Recreation Department.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The two thousand dollar ($2,000) donation received from the Carlsbad Christmas Bureau will be
used for upgrading of purchasing additional equipment at Pine School Park. Staff is requesting
that these funds be appropriated into the project account for this use.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING A DONATION OF TWO
THOUSAND DOLLARS ($2,000) FROM THE CARLSBAD
CHRISTMAS BUREAU AND APPROPRIATION OF FUNDS
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, wishes to accept these
donations and acknowledge the generosity and support of the Carlsbad Christmas Bureau.
WHEREAS, the donation was subsequently received by the Parks and Recreation Commission
and recommended for acceptance by the Carlsbad City Council.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad,
California, as follows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
2. That the City does hereby accept the donation of two thousand dollars ($2,000) from the Carlsbad
Christmas Bureau.
3. That the City Council authorize the Finance Director to appropriate the donation of two thousand
dollars ($2,000) in the Pine School Capital Project account.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Carlsbad City Council held
onthe 3rd day of February , 2004 by the following vote, to wit:
