RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No. 2004-049 accepting a donation of a cast
concrete bench valued at $1,000, from the Santa Margarita Chapter of the National Society
of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and directing an appropriate letter of thanks.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
The Santa Margarita Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American
Revolution have donated to the Carlsbad City Library, a cast concrete bench with a bronze
plaque on the back, reading:
“DEDICATED TO OUR REVOLUTIONARY WAR PATRIOTS AND ALL THOSE WHO
HAVE FOLLOWED. SANTA MARGARITA CHAPTER NSDAR 1776-2004”
The Chapter requested the bench be located at the entrance to the Georgina Cole Library
since their members as well as others from throughout the state use the library for their
genealogical research.
Library staff has consulted with the City Parks Department and agreed upon a suitable
location for the bench.

DAUGHTERS OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION
WHEREAS, The Santa Margarita Chapter of the Daughters of the
American Revolution has donated to the Carlsbad City Library a cast concrete
bench to be located at the Georgina Cole Library in memory of the
Revolutionary War patriots, and
WHEREAS, The City Council wishes to accept this gift;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Carlsbad, California, as follows:

That the above recitations are true and correct.
That the City Council accepts the gift from The Santa Margarita
Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution on behalf of
all citizens of Carlsbad.
PASSED, APPROVED, AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the City
Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, held on the 17th day of
February , 2004, by the following vote, to wit:
AYES: Council Members Lewis, Finnila, chin, Hall and
NOES: None
