TITLE: ACCEPTANCE OF A DONATION OF $1,000 TO THE
CARLSBAD CITY LIBRARY FROM PETER AND MARSHA
BERTINO AND APPROPRIATING DONATION TO THE
GIFTS AND BEQUESTS FUND. CITY ATTY.

RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No. 2004-316 accepting a donation of $1,000
from Peter and Marsha Bertino in memory of his sister, Laura M. Bertino, appropriating the
funds, and directing an appropriate letter of thanks.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
Carlsbad residents Peter and Marsha Bertino have donated $1,000 to the Carlsbad City
Library in memory of his sister, Laura M. Bertino, to be used to purchase books for the
collection at the Georgina Cole Library. The funds are appropriated to the Library Gifts and
Bequests Fund for the purchase of materials for that collection.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The donation will increase the balance in the Library’s Gifts and Bequests Fund.
EXHIBITS:
1. Resolution No. 2004-316 accepting a donation from Peter
and Marsha Bertino to the Carlsbad City Library and appropriating the funds to the
Library Gifts and Bequests Fund.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD,
CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING A DONATION FROM
PETER AND MARSHA BERTINO TO THE CARLSBAD
CITY LIBRARY AND APPROPRIATING THE FUNDS TO
THE LIBRARY GIFTS AND BEQUESTS FUND
WHEREAS, Peter and Marsha Bertino have donated $1,000 to the Carlsbad City
Library in memory of his sister, Laura M. Bertino, for the purchase of books for the
Georgina Cole Library; and
WHEREAS, the City of Carlsbad accepts this gift to the Carlsbad City Library and
appropriates the funds to the Library Gifts and Bequests fund;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Carlsbad, California, as follows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
2. That the City Council accepts the gift of $1,000 from Peter and Marsha
Bertino on behalf of all citizens of Carlsbad, and hereby appropriates the
donation to the Library Gifts and Bequests Fund.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the City Council
of the City of Carlsbad, California, at a regular meeting held on the 5th day of
October , 2004, by the following vote, to wit:
AYES: Council Members Lew and Packard.
NOES: None
