TITLE:
ACCEPTANCE OF A DONATION OF $1,000 TO THE
CARLSBAD CITYSTUFF PROGRAM FROM PALOMAR
TRANSFER STATION/AWIN AND APPROPRIATING THE
FUNDS TO SAID ACCOUNT.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt resolution No. 2004-365 accepting a donation of $1,000 from
Palomar Transfer Station/AWIN and appropriating the funds to the Citystuff account.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
Carlsbad’s Citystuff program is an outreach program made up of employee and City
volunteers. Each spring, CityStuff volunteers are assigned to a classroom where they will
introduce “their Carlsbad world”. This year a record 50 third-grade classrooms in 11
schools, in all three school districts have expressed interest in participating. This six week
long program educates students about their local government and its processes and
procedures. The curriculum is designed to compliment state standards for third grade civic
education. Donations are solicited to offset the City’s costs associated with printing
classroom lessons. Staff is able to expand and advance this program by generating
teaching materials used by the volunteer instructors and other related materials.
The donation made by the Palomar Transfer StationIAWIN is to be appropriated to the
Citystuff account.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The Palomar Transfer Station/AWIN donation will allow the Citystuffs innovative volunteer
program to reach more schools and children than in previous years
EXHIBITS:
1. Resolution No. 2004-365 accepting a donation from Palomar
Transfer Station/AWIN for the continued advancement of the Citystuff program.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING A DONATION
FROM PALOMAR TRANSFER STATION/AWIN TO THE
CARLSBAD CITYSTUFF PROGRAM AND APPROPRIATING
THE FUNDS TO SAID ACCOUNT.
WHEREAS, Palomar Transfer StatiodAWIN have donated $1,000 to the Carlsbad
Citystuff program; and
WHEREAS, the City of Carlsbad accepts this girt to the Carlsbad Citystuff program and
appropriates the funds to the said account;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad,
California, as follows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
2. That the City Council accepts the gift of $1,000 from Palomar Transfer
StatiodAWIN on behalf of all citizens of Carlsbad, and hereby appropriates the
donation to the Citystuff program fund.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a Regular Meeting of the City Council of the
City of Carlsbad on the 16 th day of November ,2004, by the following vote:
AYES: Council Members Lewis, Finnila, Kulchin, Hall and Packard.
NOES: None
