ADOPTION OF ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING
SPEED LIMIT ON CANNON ROAD
Adopt Ordinance No. NS-732, amending Title 10, Chapter 10.44 of the Carlsbad Municipal
Code by the amendment of Section 10.44.380 to establish a prima facie 50-mile per hour
speed limit on Cannon Road from El Camino Real to its intersection with College Boulevard.
ITEM EXPLANATION
Ordinance No. NS-732 was introduced and first read at the City Council meeting held on
November 9,2004. The second reading allows the City Council to adopt the ordinance, which
would then become effective in thirty days. The City Clerk will have the ordinance published
within fifteen days, if adopted.

ORDINANCE NO. NS-732
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING TITLE 10, CHAPTER
10.44, OF THE CARLSBAD MUNICIPAL CODE BY THE
AMENDMENT OF SECTION 10.44.380 TO ESTABLISH A PRIMA
FACIE 50 MILE PER HOUR SPEED LIMIT UPON CANNON ROAD
FROM EL CAMINO REAL TO ITS INTERSECTION WITH
COLLEGE BOULEVARD.
The City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, hereby ordains as follows:
SECTION 1: That Title 10, Chapter 10.44, of the Carlsbad Municipal Code is amended
by the revision of Section 10.44.380 to read as follows:
“1 0.44.380 Cannon Road:
a. Upon Cannon Road from Carlsbad Boulevard to its
intersection with Paseo del Norte, the prima facie speed limit shall
be thirty-five miles per hour.
b. Upon Cannon Road from Paseo del Norte to its intersection
with El Camino Real, the prima facie speed limit shall be fifty miles
per hour.
c. Upon Cannon Road from El Camino Real to its intersection
with College Boulevard, the prima facie speed limit shall be fifty
miles per hour.”
EFFECTIVE DATE: This ordinance shall be effective thirty (30) days after its adoption and
the City Clerk, City of Carlsbad, shall certify to the adoption of this ordinance and cause it to be
published at least once in a newspaper of general circulation in the City of Carlsbad within fifteen
(1 5) days after its adoption.

9th dayof November , 2004, and thereafter,
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Carlsbad City Council
held on the 16th day of November , 2004 by the following vote, to wit:
AYES: Council Members Lewis, Finnila, Kulchin, Hall and Packard.
NOES: None
