ITEM EXPLANATION:
The term of Ed Andrews expired in June, 2004. Mr. Andrews was originally appointed July,
2000 and has served four years.
The term of Jonathan Campbell expired in June, 2004. Mr. Campbell was originally
appointed in August, 2002 to fill an unexpired term and has served one year and eight
months.
The term of Nora George expired in June, 2004. Ms. George was originally appointed
September, 2002, and has served four years.
In addition, Norine Sigafoose has submitted a letter of resignation from the Committee, due
to her election to the Carlsbad City Council.
Other members of the Beach Preservation Committee are: William J. Carroll, Richard
Erhardt, and Bruce Macklin.

Dear Mayor Lewis:
In July, 2002, you and the City Council appointed me to fill an unexpired term on the
Beach Preservation Committee which expires in June, 2004.1 would appreciate a
reappointment to the Committee.
In addition to attendance at all Committee meetings, I have attended almost all SANDAG
Shoreline Preservation Committee meetings with Ann Kulchin, Chair of that Committee.
I continue to have a strong interest in providing service to the City through membership
on the Beach Preservation Committee.

Dear Mayor Lewis:
It has been a privilege and a pleasure to serve on the Beach Preservation Committee
(BPC) for the past two years. As you may know, the term I am fulfilling expires in May.
Although I have been instrumental in achieving some of the BPC’s recent goals, such as
the development of a community outreach program, I do not wish to continue with the
BPC. I feel I could be a greater asset to the City serving on a commission where I may
utilize my background in planning and public works. Therefore, I would like to be
considered for an appointment to the Planning Commission or the Parks and Recreation
Commission. I welcome the opportunity to discuss this matter in person.
