ITEM EXPLANATION:
The purpose of the meeting and site visits is for the police department captain in charge of the
proposed shooting range facility to meet with architects and conduct site visits to at least two
shooting ranges designed by the architects. The meeting and site visits are scheduled for
Dallas, Texas the week of May 9,2005.
FISCAL IMPACT:
When the FY 2004-05 police budget was developed, staff was not aware of this meeting. The
cost to attend the meeting for one person is approximately $1,000. Funds are available in the
Police Department budget to cover all estimated costs.

RESOLUTION NO. 2005-122
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING
MENT CAPTAIN TO TRAVEL TO DALLAS, TEXAS TO MEET WITH
SHOOTING RANGE ARCHITECTS AND CONDUCT SITE VISITS
OUT-OF-STATE TRAVEL FOR A POLICE DEPART-
WHEREAS, the City Council concurs that it is in the public interest to authorize out-
of-state travel for a police department captain to attend a meeting with shooting range
architects and conduct at least two site visits of local ranges designed by the architects. The
meeting and site visits are scheduled for Dallas, Texas the week of May 9, 2005.
WHEREAS, the City Council recognizes that this is a city-wide goal, and this travel
will help achieve this goal; and
the out-of-state travel.
WHEREAS, funds are available in the FY 2004-05 Police Department budget for
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Carlsbad, as follows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
2. That out-of-state travel is hereby authorized in accordance with City policy for a
police department captain to travel to Dallas, Texas to meeting with architects and
conduct site visits of ranges designed by the architects.
PASSED, APPROVED, AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City
of Carlsbad, California, held on the 26th day of April , 2005, by the following
vote, to wit:
AYES: Council Members Hall, Kulchin, Packard, Sigafoose
NOES: None
ABSENT: Council Member Lewis
