STAFF PRESENTATION ON THE ACTION TAKEN BY THE
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Hear and accept the report.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
On April 20, 2005, the Carlsbad City Council, Carlsbad Municipal Water District Board and
the Carlsbad Housing and Redevelopment Commission approved an agreement between
those agencies and the San Diego County Water Authority supporting the development of a
regional desalination plant in Carlsbad, and defining the relationship between the parties.
On April 28, 2005, the San Diego County Water Authority Board of Directors (SDCWA) will
consider approving the agreement, bringing to a close several years of negotiation between
Carlsbad and SDCWA.
On May 3, 2005, staff will present a brief report to the Carlsbad Municipal Water District
Board on the actions taken by SDCWA at the April 28 meeting.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The fiscal impact of the agreement between Carlsbad and the SDCWA was presented to
the City Council, CMWD Board and Commission at the April 20, 2005 meeting.
