RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Receive presentation from the Environmental Club of Carlsbad High School.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
The City Council provides an opportunity for citizens and organizations to have an item
placed on a City Council Agenda by submitting a letter to the City Manager. Attached is a
letter (Exhibit 1) from Angela Caraglio, member, Environmental Club of Carlsbad High
School, requesting the opportunity to make a presentation to the City of Carlsbad’s City
Council.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no fiscal impact at this time.

Re: Request for presentation on May 17,2005
Dear Mr. Patchett,
On behalf of the Environmental Club of Carlsbad High School, I would like to request for
our group to make a presentation at the May 17,2005 City Council Meeting. We have
chosen this date due to the fact that The Peer Advocate Group of Carlsbad High School,
lead by Mrs. Kistler, is also speaking at the meeting. Mrs. Kistler has been so generous to
share her time with us, but I am writing to you to guarantee that The Environmental Club
is put on the agenda. We will be there to support each other.
The Environmental Club will present to you our support from the community of Carlsbad
in forms of letters, polls, and a short video. Our proposal is to encourage the City of
Carlsbad to grant all the citizens of Carlsbad one smoke free month at our beaches, parks,
and lagoons.
