ITEM EXPLANATION:
n December 2004, and January 2005, the City received the following monetary donations
:otaling $2,600 in support of the Recreation Department Youth Basketball Program:
2005-164 accepting cash donations totaling two thousand six hundred
Imperial Capital Bank $1,000
Toyota/Lexus Carlsbad $500
Carlsbad Village Optimist Club $500
That Pizza Place $300
Ken Grody Ford $300
Total Donation $2,600
These funds will be used to help in the purchasing of awards and uniforms for all participants in
:he Youth Basketball Program. Letters of Appreciation have been sent on behalf of the
Recreation Department and the City of Carlsbad to each business.
3n March 21, 2005 the Park and Recreation Commission recommended acceptance of the
92,600 in cash donations by the City Council.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The $2,600 received from Imperial Capital Bank, Toyota/Lexus Carlsbad, Carlsbad Village
3ptimist Club, That Pizza Place, and Ken Grody Ford has been deposited into the Recreation
Trust Account (1 49-4503-5651). The Recreation Department requests that the Finance Director
3e authorized to appropriate the $2,600 into account # 149-4503-5651 to be utilized to purchase
awards and uniforms for all youth basketball participants.

RESOLUTION NO. 2005-1 64
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING DONATIONS OF TWO
THOUSAND SIX HUNDRED DOLLARS ($2600) IN CASH FOR
SUPPORT OF THE RECREATION DEPARTMENT’S YOUTH
BASKETBALL PROGRAM
WHEREAS, the Recreation Department’s Youth Basketball Program was established to teach
youth the fundamentals of the sport, while promoting learning, sportsmanship, and teamwork in a
noncompetitive environment; and
WHEREAS, Recreation staff solicited support fi-om community businesses and organizations to
promote and support the Carlsbad Youth Basketball Program; and
WHEREAS, on March 21, 2005, the Parks and Recreation Commission unanimously approved
these cash donations totaling two thousand six hundred dollars ($2,600) in support of the Recreation
Department’s Youth Basketball Program and recommended acceptance by the Counci1;and
WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to acknowledge the generosity and support of the $1,000
cash donation by Imperial Capital Bank, the $500 cash donation by Toyota/Lexus Carlsbad, the $500 cash
donation by the Carlsbad Village Optimist Club, the $300 cash donation by That Pizza Place, and the
$300 cash donation by Ken Grody Ford.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad as
foIlows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
2. That the City Council does hereby accept Two Thousand Six Hundred Dollars ($2,600) in
cash.

3. That the City Council authorizes the Finance Director to appropriate the $2600 in donations
into the Recreation Trust Account # 149-4503-5651 to purchase youth basketball awards.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of
Carlsbad held on the 7 t h day of June ,2005 by the following vote, to wit:
AYES: Council Members Hall, Kulchin, Packard, Sigafoose
NOES: None
ABSENT: Council Member Lewis
