RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No. 2005-170 accepting the work in accordance with Contract No.
PKS 04-02 New Modular Building at the Parks Yard as complete, and direct the City Clerk
to have the Notice of Completion recorded.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
September 21, 2004, the City Council adopted Resolution 2004-299 awarding Contract
No. PKS 04-02 to Design Space Modular Buildings Inc. for $107,407 for the installation of
a new modular building at the Parks yard. The original modular building that served as
office space for the Parks Department crew leads was over twenty years old and was in
less than serviceable condition. Extreme age and weathering had left the original
modular building in deteriorated condition and the existing building had multiple roof
leaks.
The construction phase of the project was completed on time and the new facility is
currently in use by staff.
This project addressed the Council Goal as described below.
“Ensure the effective and efficient delivery of top-quality services to our community.”
This project is now complete and the contractor’s work is acceptable to the Public Works
Director.
ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW:
This project has been determined to be exempt from environmental review per CEQA -
Class 1 (c), Minor alteration of existing facility.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The total cost for this project is $1 12,460.00, which was funded by the General Fund
Parks Maintenance budget. Fund. Change Orders for the project totaled $1,955.00.
Change Orders included adding concrete site improvements and upgrading site utilities.
EXHIBITS:
1. Adopt Resolution No. 2005-170 accepting the work in accordance with
Contract No. PKS 04-02 New Modular Building at the Parks Yard as complete,
and direct the City Clerk to have the Notice of Completion recorded.

RESOLUTION NO. 2005-170
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING THE WORK AS
COMPLETE AND DIRECTING THE RECORDATION OF THE
NOTICE OF COMPLETION FOR NEW MODULAR BUILDING AT
THE PARKS YARD, CONTRACT PKS 04-02.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad has previously appropriated General
Fund Parks Maintenance Budget funds for providing and installing a new modular building at the
Parks Yard, hereinafter referred to as the “Project”; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has previously awarded a contract for the Project; and
WHEREAS, the Project work has been satisfactory completed; and
WHEREAS, a Notice of Completion has been prepared for the Project; and
WHEREAS, the City Council hereby finds it necessary, desirable, and in the public interest
to accept the completed work for providing and installing a new modular building at the Parks
Yard.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad,
California, as follows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
2. That the completed work is hereby accepted and the City Clerk is directed to
record the Notice of Completion for said Project.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Carlsbad City Council
held on the 7th day of June , 2005 by the following vote, to wit:
