Adopt Resolution No. 2005-206 amending the Salary Schedule effective the pay period
including July 1,2005 for classifications represented by the Carlsbad Police Officers’
Association.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
On October 21,2002, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 2002-319 approving an
amendment to the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Carlsbad Police
Officers’ Association (CPOA). The term of the MOU is seven (7) years and will expire
on December 3 1,2007.
The terms of the MOU with CPOA call for a 5% general wage increase effective the pay
period including July 1,2005. Therefore, attached is the revised salary schedule for
classifications represented by the Carlsbad Police Officers’ Association.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The annual cost of salary adjustments and related benefits is estimated at $590,000.
Sufficient funds have been budgeted in the 2005/06 operating budget adopted June 21,
2005.

RESOLUTION NO. 2005-206
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING A
REVISED SALARY SCHEDULE FOR CLASSIFICATIONS
REPRESENTED BY THE CARLSBAD POLICE OFFICERS’
ASSOCIATION (CPOA).
WHEREAS, representatives of management and the Carlsbad Police Officers’
Association conducted negotiations pursuant to the Meyers-Milias-Brown Act regarding
wages and other terms and conditions of employment for the period January 1,2001 to
December 3 1,2007; and
WHEREAS, said representatives reached agreement and submitted the
Memorandum of Understanding to the City Council which was approved; and
WHEREAS, the terms of the Memorandum of Understanding call for a 5%
general wage increase effective the pay period including July 1,2005, and
WHEREAS, funds for these increases are available and have been included in the
Police Department operating budget for Fiscal Year 2005106.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Carlsbad, California, as follows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct.

2. That the Police Department Salary Schedule set forth in Exhibit A, attached
hereto and made a part thereof, is adopted.
PASSED, APPROVED, AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Carlsbad
City Council held on the 28th day of JUNE , 2005, by the following
vote, to wit:
AYES: Council Members Lewis, Hall, Kulchin, Packard, Sigafoosc
