RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Staff recommends Council adopt Resolution No.
aerial lift truck from Altec Industries, Inc.
2005-217 approving the purchase of an
ITEM EXPLANATION:
Funds are appropriated in the 2004-2005 fiscal year vehicle replacement budget for the
purchase of an aerial lift truck. This unit is used to perform tree maintenance on medium to
large trees, as well as provide community assistance with banners and flags. It replaces a
I991 truck, which currently exceeds the eight-year guideline for replacement in the Fleet
Management Program and has been experiencing an increased amount of maintenance
issues.
The truck will be purchased from Altec Industries, Inc. by utilizing a California Multiple
Award Schedule (CMAS) contract. CMAS contracts are awarded and administered by the
State of California, and are available for use by local agencies. The City has used them
successfu I I y several times.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Appropriations of $1 10,000 were included in the fiscal year 2004-05 budget. The actual cost
is $1 17,187. Due to other fleet replacements coming in under budget, there are sufficient
appropriations in the fleet replacement budget for the purchase.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA,
AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF AN AERIAL LIFT TRUCK
WHEREAS, the City of Carlsbad wishes to purchase an aerial lift truck, and;
WHEREAS, there is an applicable California Multiple Award Schedule contract available
for the City’s use;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad,
California, as follows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct.

The Purchasing Officer is hereby authorized and directed to issue a purchase
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Carlsbad City
Council held on the 28th day of JUNE , 2005 by the following vote, to wit:
