HomeMy WebLinkAbout2005-07-19; City Council; 18205; Aviara Community Park Agreement Amendments4B# 18,205 VITG. 7/19/05 RECOMMENDED ACTION: Adopt Resolution No. 2005-224 B&G Consultants and NTD Architects, Incorporated for Aviara Community Park, Project No. 3699-1. approving amendments to consultant service agreements with ITEM EXPLANATION: On October 7, 2003 City Council approved a contract with NTD Architects, Incorporated for the redesign of bid documents and to provide revised construction phase architectural seri/ices. On March 9, 2004 City Council awarded a construction management contract to B&G Consultants for $399,678. The original completion date for the project was February 2005. However, due to unforeseen weather conditions and the contractor’s slow progress, the project has gone over on time. The anticipated completion date for the project is now October 2005, which requires the need for additional funding for the above mentioned consultant agreements in order for the City to continue utilizing their services. TITLE: AMENDMENTS TO CONSULTANT SERVICE AGREEMENTS WITH B&G CONSULTANTS AND NTD ARCHITECTS, INCORPORATED FOR AVIARA COMMUNITY PARK, PROJECT NO. 3699-1 Staff recommends Council approval for an increase to the consultant agreements with B&G Consultants and NTD Architects, Incorporated in the amounts of $162,500 and $113,096, respectively, in order to complete the Aviara Community Park project, Project No. 3699-1. I Budget ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW: On February 6, 2002 the Planning Commission adopted Resolution No. 5108 approving a Mitigated Negative Declaration and Mitigation Monitoring and Reporting Program for Aviara Community Park finding the project to be in conformance with the requirements of the California Environmental Quality Act, the State Guidelines, and the Environmental Protection Procedures of the City of Carlsbad. Appropriations Budget FISCAL IMPACT: - (B&G Consultants) Redesign & Architectural Services (NTD Architects, Incorporated) A summary of the project budget request is as follows: $1 84,802 $1 13,096 $297,898 Public Facility Fee funds for the consultant agreement increases are available in the Aviara Community Park capital improvement project budget. WHEREAS, the City Council has determined it necessary and in the public interest to construct Aviara Community Park; and WHEREAS, an increase in the amount of $275,596 is necessary to continue consultant services for construction management and redesign and architectural construction phase services; and WHEREAS, Public Facility Fee funds are available in the Aviara Community Park capital improvement project budget.
