3ECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No. 2005377
2006, for classifications represented by the Carlsbad Firefighters’ Association.

ITEM EXPLANATION:
On January 24,2002, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 2002-030 approving a
Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Carlsbad Firefighters’ Association (CFA).
The term of the MOU is five (5) years and will expire on December 3 1,2006.
The terms of the MOU with CFA call for a 4.25% general wage increase effective the pay
period inclusive of January 1, 2006. Therefore, attached is the revised salary schedule for
classifications represented by the Carlsbad Firefighters’ Association.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The annual cost of salary adjustments and related benefits is estimated at $280,000. The fiscal
impact of these increases on the FY 2005/06 budget is estimated at $140,000. Sufficient
funds are available from current appropriations in the 2005/06 Fire Department operating
budget.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING A
REVISED SALARY SCHEDULE FOR CLASSIFICATIONS
REPRESENTED BY THE CARLSBAD ETEEFIGHTERS’
ASSOCIATION.
WHEREAS, representatives of management and the Carlsbad Firefighters’
Association conducted negotiations pursuant to the Meyers-Milias-Brown Act regarding
wages and other terms and conditions of employment for the period January 1,2002, to
December 31,2006; and
WHEREAS, said representatives reached agreement and submitted the
Memorandum of Understanding to the City Council which was approved; and
WHEREAS, the terms of the Memorandum of Understanding call for a 4.25%
general wage increase effective the pay period including January 1,2006, and
WHEREAS, funds for this salary adjustment are available and have been included
in the Fire Department operating budget for Fiscal Year 200Y06.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Carlsbad, California, as follows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct.

2. That the Fire Department Salary Schedule set forth in Attachment A, attached
hereto and made a part thereof, is adopted.
PASSED, APPROVED, AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Carlsbad
City Council held on the 20th day of December , 2005, by the following
vote, to wit:
