RECOMMENDED ACTION:
City Council Adopt Resolution No. 2006-034 accepting $11,844.55 from the Cannon Art Gallery
Endowment Fund of the Carlsbad Library and Arts Foundation.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
The Carlsbad Library and Arts Foundation has authorized the annual distribution of accrued interest
from the Cannon Art Gallery Endowment Fund to the City. The amount of interest accrued is
scheduled to be given to the City each December.
This first distribution of funds will be used for the "Three-Part-Art" education program presented at
the William D. Cannon Art Gallery. The Three-Part-Art program is an educational outreach program
designed to introduce third and fourth-graders from Carlsbad schools to the experience of interacting
with and learning from original works of art in a museum setting.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The annual cost for the 3 Three-Part-Art programs the City currently offers to Carlsbad
schoolchildren is approximately $33,000.
The Arts Office requests that Council accept the $11,844.55 from the Carlsbad Library and Arts
Foundation.

RESOLUTION NO. 2006-034
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD,
CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING A DONATION IN THE AMOUNT OF $11,844.55
WHEREAS, the Carlsbad Library and Arts Foundation has authorized the annual
distribution of accrued interest from the Cannon Art Gallery Endowment Fund to the City. The
amount of interest accrued is scheduled to be given to the City each December; and
WHEREAS this funding will support an educational outreach program designed to
introduce third and fourth-graders from Carlsbad to the experience of interacting with and
learning from original works of art in a museum setting.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad,
California, as follows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
2. That funds in the amount of $11,844.55 are hereby accepted.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a Regular Meeting of the City Council of the
City of Carlsbad on the 14th day of February , 2006, by the following vote:
AYES: Council Members Lewis, Hall, Kulchin, Packard, Sigafoose
