No funding * If Council wishes to provide funding for this request, staff recommends that Council adopt the attached resolution. FISCAL IMPACT: If Council grants the request, the total cost is $25,000 from available Council Contingency funds. EXHIBITS: 1. BALL City Attorney rmh attachment 1 RESOLUTION NO. 2006-045 2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING A 3 DONATION TO SUPPORT THE AGUA HEDIONDA LAGOON FOUNDATION 4 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, supports the 5 activities of the Agua Hedionda Lagoon Foundation ("Foundation"); and 6 WHEREAS, the Agua Hedionda Lagoon Foundation seeks funding assistance to help pay for landscaping costs associated with the Discovery Center Native Plant 8 Interpretive Demonstration Landscape Garden and an Education/Outreach program; and WHEREAS, the City has received a request from the Foundation to help finance the program; and WHEREAS, if the Agua Hedionda Lagoon Foundation uses any of these funds to pay for labor, that they shall pay prevailing wages, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of .. Carlsbad, California, as follows: j g 1. That the above recitations are true and correct. 17 2. That a grant is authorized in the amount of $9,000 to the Agua Hedionda 18 Lagoon Foundation from the Council Contingency Fund to be added to the existing $16,000 19 previously awarded to the Foundation through the Community Activities Grant Program. 20 3. That the existing Community Activities Grant Agreement for the Foundation's 21 current Community Activities Grant be amended to permit the funds to be redirected from 22 Education/Outreach activities to funds to be used for landscape renovation, plants, materials and 23 labor at the Foundation's Lagoon Discovery Center.
