If Council grants the request, the total cost is $25,000 from available Council Contingency funds.

Council's actions at its meeting of Tuesday, March 7, 2006. If it meets with your

2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING A
3 DONATION TO SUPPORT THE AGUA HEDIONDA
LAGOON FOUNDATION

WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, supports the
5
activities of the Agua Hedionda Lagoon Foundation ("Foundation"); and
6
WHEREAS, the Agua Hedionda Lagoon Foundation seeks funding assistance
to help pay for landscaping costs associated with the Discovery Center Native Plant
8
Interpretive Demonstration Landscape Garden and an Education/Outreach program; and
WHEREAS, the City has received a request from the Foundation to help finance
the program; and
WHEREAS, if the Agua Hedionda Lagoon Foundation uses any of these funds
to pay for labor, that they shall pay prevailing wages,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
.. Carlsbad, California, as follows:
j g 1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
17 2. That a grant is authorized in the amount of $9,000 to the Agua Hedionda
18 Lagoon Foundation from the Council Contingency Fund to be added to the existing $16,000
19 previously awarded to the Foundation through the Community Activities Grant Program.
20 3. That the existing Community Activities Grant Agreement for the Foundation's
21 current Community Activities Grant be amended to permit the funds to be redirected from
22 Education/Outreach activities to funds to be used for landscape renovation, plants, materials and
23 labor at the Foundation's Lagoon Discovery Center. The date for performance/completion of
24 that grant is extended to June 30, 2006.

e reauest for funding for a Native Plant Demonstration Garden that will
1) for the Foundation's current Community Activities Grant in <* amount *
$16 000 00 be redirected from educational outreach activities to use for landscape
Novation, plants, materials and labor at the Foundation's Lagoon Discovery
Center;
2) for the performance/completion date of that grant to be extended until June 30,
2006;
3) for the City of Carlsbad to provide additional funding
to be added to the CAG $16,000.00 to provide a trial of $25,
completion of the Native Plant Demonstration Garden.
