RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No.2006-133. accepting a cash donation of one thousand dollars ($1,000)
from the Rotary Club of Encinitas to benefit Carlsbad Recreation Department Youth Sports
activities and the Sportsmanship/T.R.U.S.T. Program.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
In March 2006 the Recreation Department received a donation of $1,000 from the Rotary
Club of Encinitas. The Recreation Department assisted the Rotarians in scheduling and
coordinating field use for their annual soccer tournament fundraiser. These funds will be
used to promote and support the Recreation Departments Sportsmanship/T.R.U.S.T.
Program, and the Youth Sports Programs.
On April 17, 2006, the Parks and Recreation Commission received the above donation and
recommended acceptance by the City Council. A letter of appreciation has been sent on
behalf of the Recreation Department to the Rotary Club of Encinitas.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The $1,000 received from the Rotary Club of Encinitas has been deposited into the
Recreation Trust Account (149-4503-5651) for utilization towards the Departments Youth
Sports Programs and Sportsmanship/T.R.U.S.T. Program.

WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, wishes to accept this

donation and acknowledge the generosity and support of the Rotary Club of Encinitas; and
8
„ WHEREAS, the Carlsbad Recreation Department assisted the Rotary Club of Encinitas in
10 scheduling and coordinating field use for a soccer tournament fundraiser; and
11 WHEREAS, the funds will be used to promote and support the Recreation Departments
12 Sportsmanship/T.R.U.S.T. Program and Youth Sports Programs; and
WHEREAS, On April 17, 2006 the Parks and Recreation Commission recommended
14 acceptance of donation totaling $1,000.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad,

California, as follows:

1. That the above recitations are true and correct.18
19 2. That the City Council does hereby accept the donation totaling one thousand dollars
20 ($1,000).
3. That the City Council hereby authorizes the Finance Director to appropriate the one
22 thousand dollars ($1,000) into the Recreation Trust Account #149-4503-5651.
