ACCEPTANCE OF DONATION

RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No. 2006-157 accepting a donation from the Carlsbad Friends of the Arts
in the amount of $27,000 and authorizing the Finance Director to appropriate said funds.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
In 2005, the Carlsbad Friends of the Arts, the non-profit organization which supports the City's
Cultural Arts Office, raised funds at the 2005 TGIF Jazz in the Parks concert series and through
membership dues. They are now donating $27,000 in funds to the City for various Cultural Arts
Office programs. A portion of the donation, $15,000, will be used to offset costs that will be
incurred during the 2006 TGIF Jazz concert series, for support services such as shuttle buses,
porta-toilets, and stage equipment. Nine thousand, five hundred dollars ($9,500) will be used for
the "Three-Part-Art" education program presented at the William D. Cannon Art Gallery to third-
and fourth-graders that attend schools located in the City of Carlsbad. One thousand, five
hundred dollars ($1,500) will be used to fund performers for the 2007 Multicultural Arts Festival,
and one thousand dollars ($1,000) will be used for Cannon Art Gallery receptions.
FISCAL IMPACT:
- $15,000 is designated for logistical costs related to the 2006 TGIF Jazz concert series.
- $ 9,500 is designated for the Cannon Art Gallery's "Three-Part-Art" educational program.
- $ 1,500 is designated for performers for the 2007 Multicultural Arts Festival.
- $ 1,000 is designated for Cannon Art Gallery receptions.
The Arts Office requests the Finance Director be authorized to appropriate $15,000 into the
Special Events Special Revenue Account org key; $9,500 into the Arts Educational General
Fund org key; $1,500 into the Arts Office General Fund org key; and $1,000 into the Gallery
General Fund org key.

CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF

4 AND APPROPRIATION OF FUNDS.
5 WHEREAS, the Carlsbad Friends of the Arts, the non-profit support organization

of the City's Cultural Arts Office, has raised funds during the City's 2005 TGIF Jazz

WHEREAS, the Friends are donating $27,000 to the City to assist with partial
funding of the following programs: $15,000 to offset logistical costs for the 2006 TGIF
11 Jazz Concert Series; $9,500 for the Cannon Art Gallery's "Three-Part-Art" education
12 program for third- and fourth-graders; $1,500 to fund performers for the 2007
13 Multicultural Arts Festival; and $1,000 to fund Cannon Art Gallery receptions.
14 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Carlsbad, as follows:

1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
17 2. That the donation from the Carlsbad Friends of the Arts, in the amount of
18 $27,000 is hereby accepted.
3. That the Finance Director is hereby authorized to appropriate $15,000 into the
19 Special Events Special Revenue Account org key; $9,500 into the Arts
Educational General Fund org key; $1,500 into the Arts Office General Fund
20 org key; and $1,000 into the Gallery General Fund org key.
