RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No. 2006-163 authorizing a refund to Lithographix, Inc. of $4,471.60 in
business license tax.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
Lithographix, Inc. ceased conducting business in the City of Carlsbad after the company paid
its business license tax for the year. They have requested a refund for the period of time after
they stopped conducting business in Carlsbad.
The Finance Department 1) confirmed the date Lithographix, Inc. ceased conducting
business in the City; 2) audited the refund request and confirmed the refund amount; and 3)
verified that the new company (L & L Printers Carlsbad, LLC) had applied and paid for a
business license with the City.
Section 5.04.130 of the Carlsbad Municipal Code requires Council approval of any refund in
excess of $500. Therefore, staff is recommending approval of a refund to Lithographix, Inc.
for $4,471.60.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This will result in a $4,471.60 refund. As the new owner has paid its business license tax,
there is no further fiscal impact.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT:
There will be no environmental impact.

5 WHEREAS, Lithographix, Inc. ceased doing business in the City of Carlsbad and the
6 company has requested a refund for the period of time after they stopped conducting business
7 in the City; and
8 WHEREAS, the Finance Department confirmed the date Lithographix, Inc. ceased
9 doing business in the City, and verified the refund amount.
10 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
11 Carlsbad, California, as follows:

1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
