RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Ordinance No. NS-804 amending Title 10, Chapter 10.44 of the Carlsbad Municipal
Code by the addition of Section 10.44.760 to establish a prima facie 40 mile per hour speed
limit on Aston Avenue, from College Boulevard to its intersection with Rutherford Road.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
Ordinance No. NS-804 was introduced and first read at the City Council meeting held on
June 13, 2006. The second reading allows the City Council to adopt the ordinance, which
would then become effective in thirty days. The City Clerk will have the ordinance published
within fifteen days, if adopted.

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
3 CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING TITLE 10, CHAPTER 10.44,
OF THE CARLSBAD MUNICIPAL CODE BY THE ADDITION OF
4 SECTION 10.44.760 TO ESTABLISH UPON ASTON AVENUE A PRIMA
FACIE 40 MILE PER HOUR SPEED LIMIT FROM COLLEGE
5 BOULEVARD TO ITS INTERSECTION WITH RUTHERFORD ROAD.
6 The City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, hereby ordains as follows:
7 SECTION 1: That Title 10, Chapter 10.44, of the Carlsbad Municipal Code is amended
g by the addition of Section 10.44.760 to read as follows:
9 "10.44.760 Aston Avenue. Upon Aston Avenue from College Boulevard
to its intersection with Rutherford Road, the prima facie speed limit shall

! ! EFFECTIVE DATE: This ordinance shall be effective thirty (30) days after its adoption; and
Yi the City Clerk shall certify the adoption of this ordinance and cause it to be published at least once in
13 a newspaper of general circulation in the City of Carlsbad within fifteen (15) days after its adoption.
