RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No.2006-198 accepting donations in Fiscal Year
2005-06 of $850, $850, $650, $350 and $100 to the Parks Memorial Bench/Tree Program from Mr.
Stephen Neville, Ms. Magdalena Whistler, Ms. Laurel Lemarie, Ms.Joanne Juchniewicz and members
of the Citizens' Academy, respectively, for memorial benches and memorial trees, and appropriating the
funds to the Public Works-Parks Maintenance Operating Budget.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
Mr. Stephen Neville, Ms. Magdalena Whistler, Ms. Laurel Lemarie, Ms. Joanne Juchniewicz and some
members of the Citizens' Academy have donated $850, $850, $650, $350 and $100 respectively, in
Fiscal Year 2005-06, to the City of Carlsbad for the express purpose of purchasing park memorial
benches and park memorial trees. These benches and trees have been installed at their designated
park locations by Parks Maintenance Staff. These donations, totaling $2800, are the result of interest
expressed by the donors in the Parks Memorial Bench/Tree Program.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT:
This program has been determined to be exempt from environmental review per CEQA (14 Cal Code
Reg §15301.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The donated funds are sufficient to off-set the costs assocjated with the benches and trees.
EXHIBITS:
2006-1981. Resolution No.accepting donations in Fiscal Year
2005-06 for park memorial benches and park memorial trees, and appropriating funds.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
3 CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING DONATIONS IN
FISCAL YEAR 2005-06 FOR PARK MEMORIAL BENCHES AND
4 PARK MEMORIAL TREES AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS.

WHEREAS, the City of Carlsbad Public Works Parks Maintenance Department

administers a Parks Memorial Bench/Tree Program, and
WHEREAS, Mr. Stephen Neville, Ms. Magdalena Whistler, Ms. Laurel Lemarie, afld-Ms.

Joanne Juchniewicz and members of the Citizens' Academy have donated in Fiscal Year 2005-

WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to accept these donations, totaling $2800;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad,1 >3
