Letter to Ray Patchett, City Manager, from Carlsbad Softball Association, Joe Nunez, Team Manager, dated July 19. 2006. Staff Contact: Joe Garuba, City Manager's Office (760) 434-2820 Julyl9,2006 Ray Patchett City Manager's Office 1200 Carlsbad Village Drive Carlsbad, CA 92008 Dear Mr. Patchett: It is with great pride and excitement that I am able to present this letter to the council members of the City of Carlsbad. CSA (Carlsbad Softball Association) has the privilege of sending their 16U girls Softball team to represent the City of Carlsbad in the ASA Western National Tournament. This tournament is being held in Me Allen, Texas, July 31 through August 6,2006. The girls earned this honor just 2 weeks ago by placing second out of highly competitive field of 22 teams in the Southern California ASA State Tournament. This makes Carlsbad one of two North San Diego County teams that earned a spot to represent their city at a national level, Oceanside being the other. Now that the excitement has settled down and we have been given the opportunity to forecast what it will cost for our team to travel to Texas, we are realizing that our team is faced with financial challenges. With this said and realizing that this is probably a once in a lifetime opportunity for many of us, we are asking the council members for some assistance. We would like you to consider making a monetary donation that will go exclusively towards the travel accommodations for the players and coaches. We believe a donation made by you, in conjunction with the donation being made by CSA and as well as our team fundraisers, it would make it possible for the entire team to participate in the tournament. Our fundraising efforts so far has earned us $3,500.00, this was accomplished through hosting our own Softball tournament, t-shirt sales and sponsorships. I have provided an estimated itemized list of costs for your review and consideration. Flight/pp: Hotel: Transportation: Total Coat Less Team Fundraiser.
