RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No. 2006-357 authorizing a refund of business license taxes to Electronic
Online Systems International of $550,88.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
Electronic Online Systems International, a new business, made an error in calculating the
amount due for business license taxes. They have requested a refund for this overpayment.
The Finance Department has audited the refund request and verified the amount of Electronic
Online Systems International's overpayment.
Section 5.04.130 of the Carlsbad Municipal Code requires Council approval of any refund in
excess of $500. Therefore, staff is recommending approval of refund to Electronic Online
International of $550.88.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The payments will result in a $550.88 refund. There is no true fiscal impact as the payments
were in error.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT:
No environmental impact.

WHEREAS, Electronic Online Systems International overpaid their business

license taxes to the City of Carlsbad; and

WHEREAS, the Finance Department confirmed the overpayment by Electronic8
„ Online Systems International and verified the refund amount.
10 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
11 Carlsbad, California, as follows:
12 1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
13 2. That the refund of business license tax of $550.88 to Electronic Online

Systems is authorized.
