RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Ordinance No. NS-832 amending Title 10, Chapter 10.44 of the Carlsbad Municipal
Code by the amendment of Section 10.44.240 to establish a prima facie 55 mile per hour
speed limit on Melrose Drive from Palomar Airport Road to the north city limit.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
Ordinance No. NS-832 was introduced and first read at the City Council meeting held on
February 6, 2007. The second reading allows the City Council to adopt the ordinance, which
would then become effective in thirty days. The City Clerk will have the ordinance published
within fifteen days, if adopted.

CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING TITLE 10, CHAPTER 10.44,
3 OF THE CARLSBAD MUNICIPAL CODE BY THE AMENDMENT OF
SECTION 10.44.240 TO ESTABLISH UPON MELROSE DRIVE A
4 PRIMA FACIE 55 MILE PER HOUR SPEED LIMIT FROM PALOMAR
AIRPORT ROAD TO THE NORTH CITY LIMIT.

The City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, hereby ordains as follows:

SECTION 1: That Title 10, Chapter 10.44, of the Carlsbad Municipal Code is amended
7 by the revision of Section 10.44.240 to read as follows:
8 "10.44.240 Melrose Drive.
Upon Melrose Drive from Rancho Santa Fe Road to the north city
limit, the prima facie speed limit shall be fifty-five miles per hour."
. j EFFECTIVE DATE: This ordinance shall be effective thirty (30) days after its adoption; and
. - the City Clerk shall certify the adoption of this ordinance and cause it to be published at least once in
13 a newspaper of general circulation in the City of Carlsbad within fifteen (15) days after its adoption.

the 6th day of February, 2007, and thereafter.
