RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No. 2007-050 to accept and appropriate a donation from the Carlsbad
Village Optimist Club in the amount of one thousand dollars ($1 ,000) to be applied towards the
Recreation Department's Youth Sports programs and the Department's T.R.U.S.T. program.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
The Recreation Departments Youth Sports Division offers athletic opportunities for children in
programs such as youth basketball, pee wee basketball, indoor soccer, as well as a wide
variety of sports camps offered during summer months and other school recesses. The
T.R.U.S.T. program a sportsmanship philosophy designed to enhance all Department programs
by Teaching Respect, Unity, and Sportsmanship, through Teamwork. This program is spread
throughout all Department activities, in youth and adult athletics, enrichment classes, Senior
Center activities, and special events.
The Carlsbad Village Optimist Club has generously offered to donate $1 ,000 to be applied
towards the Recreation Department's Youth Sports programs and the Department's T.R.U.S.T.
program.
At their meeting of February 12, 2007, the Parks and Recreation Commission received the
donations totaling $1 ,000 and recommended acceptance by the City Council.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The donation in the amount of $1 ,000 will be appropriated into the Recreation Donation Special
Revenue Fund Account #149-4503-7899 upon final acceptance of the donation by the City
Council.

None

WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to accept the Carlsbad Village Optimist Club

donation totaling $1,000 in support of the Recreation Department's Youth Sports

Program and T.R.U.S.T. Program; and,

WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to acknowledge the generosity and support
12 of contributor; Carlsbad Village Optimist Club; and,
13 WHEREAS, on February 12, 2007 the Parks and Recreation Commission
14 received a donation totaling $1,000 and recommended acceptance by the Council; and,
15 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Carlsbad, California, as follows:
17 1. That the above recitations are true and correct.

2. That the City Council does hereby accept the $1,000 donation and support
19
the Recreation Department's Youth Sports Program and T.R.U.S.T. Program.
3. That the City Council hereby authorizes the Finance Director to appropriate
22 the above funds into the Recreation Donation Special Revenue Fund Account
23 #149-4503-7899.
