RECOMMENDED ACTION
Adopt Resolution No. 2007-060 accepting a cash donation of one thousand six
hundred twenty dollars ($1,620) from the 20th Annual KoKo Beach fundraiser to benefit
Carlsbad Senior Center programs.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
Since 1987, KoKo Beach restaurant owners, Jeff King and Martin Kouma have conducted an
annual fundraiser to support the seniors of Carlsbad. Fundraising efforts include golf
tournaments and the sale of restaurant discount tickets with all the proceeds being donated
to the Carlsbad Senior Center to provide special programs and purchase equipment.
Now in its' 20th year, the Koko Beach fundraiser offered to the public, $5.00 discount coupons
off lunch or dinner during the month of October. Senior Center volunteers sold 375<discount
tickets for a total of $1,620.00. Local citizens, seniors and regular KoKo Beach customers
participated by purchasing the $5.00 tickets. All of the proceeds graciously benefit the
Carlsbad Senior Center.
On February 1, 2007, the Senior Commission received the above donation and
recommended acceptance by the City Council. A letter of appreciation has been sent on
behalf of the Recreation Department and the Carlsbad Senior Center to the KoKo Beach
restaurant owners.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The $1,620 has been deposited into the Senior Center Trust Account #143-4567-5651 and
benefit the Senior Center Programs.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
3 CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING THE DONATION
FROM THE 20th ANNUAL KOKO BEACH FUNDRAISER
TOTALING $1,620 IN SUPPORT OF THE CARLSBAD
5 SENIOR CENTER.

7 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, wishes to accept
8 this donation and acknowledge the generosity and support of KoKo Beach restaurant
9 owners Jeff King and Martin Kouma, who organized the 20th Annual Donation Ticket
10 fundraiser; and,
11 WHEREAS, on February 1, 2007 the Senior Commission received a donation
12 totaling $1,620; and recommended acceptance by the City Council; and,
13 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
14 Carlsbad, California, as follows:
15 1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
16 2. That the City Council does hereby accept the donation totaling $1,620.
3. That the City Council authorizes the Finance Director to deposit the $1,620
18 donation into the Senior Center Trust Account #143-4567-5651.19 //
