RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Receive a presentation from Eric Munoz, President-Agua Hedionda Lagoon Foundation, Fred
Sandquist, President-Batiquitos Lagoon Foundation and Regg Antle, President-Buena Vista
Lagoon Foundation.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
The City Council provides an opportunity for citizens and organizations to have an item placed
on a City Council Agenda by submitting a letter to the City Manager. Attached is a letter
(Exhibit 1) from Eric Munoz, President of Agua Hedionda Lagoon Foundation, requesting the
opportunity to make a presentation to the City Council regarding the coordinated efforts of the
three lagoon foundations within Carlsbad, to promote lagoon awareness and to establish an
annual "Carlsbad Lagoon Day" during the summer.

UPDATE: COORDINATION EFFORTS BETWEEN CARLSBAD LAGOONS
Dear Mayor and Councilmembers:
During the past year, the three Lagoon Foundations have been coordinating
various efforts to provide a more unified voice for the lagoons and promote
lagoon awareness as a central community issue.
The three lagoon foundation presidents, representing this coordinated effort,
would like to be scheduled within the next month to provide the Council and the
community with a brief update on our efforts.
We would also like to share our vision of establishing an annual "Carlsbad
Lagoon Day" beginning this summer.
Many thanks for the support provided to our lagoon systems; we look forward to
continued efforts to provide sustainable stewardship to our coastal resources,
and to pursue tourism and other opportunities to benefit the Carlsbad lagoons.
