RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No. 2007-195 approving an out-of-state travel request for one designated
Engineering Department staff member to attend the annual Hansen Network 2007 Conference in
Las Vegas, Nevada.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
This is a nationwide conference which has become a part of Inforum 2007. Customers, partners,
and prospects engage in a four-day learning and networking experience which will focus on
information business-specific solutions. Staff will receive updated information on Hansen's technology
and related government technology, best practices, specialized hands-on training on the complete
Hansen solution, and system needs.
The City of Carlsbad is requesting that one designated Engineering Department staff member attend
the above conference scheduled for September 9 through September 12, 2007.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The cost to attend the conference will be approximately $1,600 which includes travel, lodging,
registration, and meals. Funds are available in the Engineering Department budget to cover all
estimated costs. Funds will be transferred from In-State Travel to Out-of-State Travel. Funds were
originally budgeted in In-State Travel, however, the conference was moved out-of-state.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING AN OUT-OF-STATE TRAVEL
REQUEST FOR ONE DESIGNATED ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT
STAFF MEMBER TO ATTEND THE ANNUAL HANSEN NETWORK

WHEREAS, the City Council concurs that it is in the public interest to authorize
6
out-of-state travel for one designated City staff member to attend the annual Hansen Network
7
2007 Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada; and
8
WHEREAS, the City Council recognizes that this is an opportunity to obtain valuable
9
education; and
10
WHEREAS, funds are available in the amount of $1,600 in the FY 2007-2008
Engineering Department budget.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad,

1. That the above recitations are true and correct.15
2. That permission is granted for one designated Engineering Department staff16
