RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No.
Board.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
Darren Hamilton, whose term expires in October 2009, has resigned from the Design
Review Board. Mr. Hamilton was appointed to serve in the "Village Property Owner"
category. One appointment is needed to fill this position.
Other members of the Design Review Board are: Julie Baker, Tony Lawson, Mike
Schumacher and Frank Whitton.
NOTE: Members of the Design Review Board are subject to the provisions of the
Political Reform Act, and must file a Statement of Economic Interests, Form 700.
EXHIBITS:
1. Resolution No. 2007-226 appointing one member to the Design Review Board
(Village Property Owner category).

5 WHEREAS, Darren Hamilton has resigned from the Design Review Board
6 leaving a term that expires in October 2009; and
7 WHEREAS, Mr. Hamilton was appointed to serve in the "Village Property
^ Owner" category.
9 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Carlsbad, California, as follows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
12 2. That the following person is hereby appointed to serve as a member of the
13 Design Review Board in the "Village Property Owner" category for a term to expire in
14 October 2009:

Dear Mayor Lewis and Carlsbad City Council,
My wife, Heather, and I recently moved from Carlsbad to Cardiff thereby requiring my resignation from
the Redevelopment District's Design Review Board. I enjoyed the opportunity to serve with some great
and interesting people in this capacity and hope that they feel the same.
Our move was scheduled to coincide with the demolition of our property to make way for the Casa
Cobra project, but we have been delayed by recent Americans with Disabilities Act code adjustments
requiring an elevator for any structure in which the first level of dwelling units is not on grade. We have
moved our anticipated date of completion back another year and hope that we can return to Carlsbad
some time in 2009.
If a seat is available for the Design Review Board, I will again apply upon our return. If the city needs a
property owner with Design Review Board experience in the interim, I will gladly apply though I no
longer fit the description as a resident of the area.
Thank you again for the opportunity and I look forward to serving with you again in the future.
