HEAETT2 CITYATTY. f^ CITY MGR.U^— RECOMMENDED ACTION: To consider adopting Resolution No. 2007-262 . approving Carlsbad High School's request for in-kind service assistance in support of the October 26,2007 Homecoming Parade. ITEM EXPLANATION: The City Council provides an opportunity for citizens and organizations to have an item placed on a City Council Agenda by submitting correspondence to the City Manager. Attached is an e-mail request from .the Carlsbad High School ASB requesting that the City Council consider allocating approximately $2,539.75 of "in kind" services to assist with the 2007 Carlsbad High School Homecoming Parade. Carlsbad High School ASB is requesting the City assume expenses associated with the staging of the parade, including Police Department traffic services ($1,839.75) and Streets Department traffic control equipment and labor costs and the Public Works costs for the traffic control plan, design, and drawing ($700.00). FISCAL IMPACT: If approved, the fiscal impact would be the cost of providing "in kind" services ($2,539.75) appropriated from the City Council Contingency fund. ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: None. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of follows: 1 . That the above recitations are true and correct. 2. That the City Council elects to appropriate the funds requested. We are holding the annual Homecoming Parade on Friday, October 26, 2007. The parade will be shorter than last year and will not be crossing Carlsbad Village Dr. We are requesting a proposal for the City to help fund this event.
