RECOMMENDED ACTION:
To consider adopting Resolution No. 2007-262 . approving Carlsbad High School's
request for in-kind service assistance in support of the October 26,2007 Homecoming
Parade.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
The City Council provides an opportunity for citizens and organizations to have an item
placed on a City Council Agenda by submitting correspondence to the City Manager.
Attached is an e-mail request from .the Carlsbad High School ASB requesting that the City
Council consider allocating approximately $2,539.75 of "in kind" services to assist with the
2007 Carlsbad High School Homecoming Parade. Carlsbad High School ASB is requesting
the City assume expenses associated with the staging of the parade, including Police
Department traffic services ($1,839.75) and Streets Department traffic control equipment and
labor costs and the Public Works costs for the traffic control plan, design, and drawing
($700.00).
FISCAL IMPACT:
If approved, the fiscal impact would be the cost of providing "in kind" services ($2,539.75)
appropriated from the City Council Contingency fund.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT:
None.

RESOLUTION NO. 2007-262
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, APPROPRIATING FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT
OF $2,539.75 FOR "IN KIND" SERVICE ASSISTANCE
WHEREAS, Carlsbad High School Associated Student Body Council has

kind" service assistance for the Carlsbad High School Homecoming Parade on 10-26-07; and
WHEREAS, staff determined Police Department traffic services and Streets Department
traffic control equipment and labor are necessary to assist with the Carlsbad
Homecoming Parade; and
WHEREAS, staff determined the cost of providing Police Department traffic
Streets Department traffic control equipment and labor for the Carlsbad High School
Parade is $2,539.75.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of

2. That the City Council elects to appropriate the funds requested.

To whom It May Concern,
My name is TR Robertson, ASB Advisor, Carlsbad High
School. We are holding the annual Homecoming Parade
on Friday, October 26, 2007. The parade will be
shorter than last year and will not be crossing
Carlsbad Village Dr. We are requesting a proposal for
the City to help fund this event. We would like to
have our proposal heard on Tuesday, Sept. 25th at the
City Council Meeting. Please notify us via email or
