REC RECEIPT OF DONATION FROM THE FRIENDS OF CARRILLO RANCH, INC DEPT. HEAtf CITY ATTY. CITY MGR. ^r&&iv — RECOMMENDED ACTION: Adopt Resolution No. 2007-324 accepting a donation of goods and services made to the Leo Carrillo Ranch Historic Park in the amount of three thousand seven hundred dollars ($3,700) from the Friends of Carrillo Ranch, Inc. ITEM EXPLANATION: Earlier this year, the Friends of Carrillo Ranch, Inc. proposed to design, build, and donate a series of signs intended to clearly identify the many historic buildings, features, and trails that are of interest to visitors touring the park. Custom built signs, inspired by the Leo Carrillo Ranch Park Master Plan designs, were crafted from 2"x6" rough cut planks with sawn wood sides. To complete the process, the signs were attached to a 4"x4" post and anchor and then installed by staff in designated locations (Exhibit 2). In all, 24 interpretive signs were constructed. George Wooldridge and fellow members of the Friends of Carrillo Ranch, Inc. generously devoted more than 150 hours of volunteer time designing, constructing, and painting the signs. In addition, the Friends donated $500 for the acquisition of materials and supplies used to create the signs. On November 19, 2007, the Parks and Recreation Commission recommended that this donation totaling $3,700 be accepted by the City Council. Timely letters of appreciation were sent to those involved in the project. The City of Carlsbad and the Recreation Department wishes to acknowledge the extraordinary efforts of George Wooldridge and the generosity of the Friends of Carrillo Ranch. The signs are a significant addition and will make a substantial improvement in the Ranch's overall interpretive program. FISCAL IMPACT: The donation of materials, supplies and combined hours of volunteer service represents an estimated $3,700 savings to the City's General Fund.
