RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Ordinance No. NS-866 amending Title 10, Chapter 10.44 of the Carlsbad Municipal
Code by the revision of Section 10.44.540 to establish a prima facie 40 mile per hour speed
limit on Armada Drive from Palomar Airport Road to the intersection of Legoland Drive.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
Ordinance No. NS-866 was introduced and first read at the City Council meeting held on
December 11, 2007. The second reading allows the City Council to adopt the ordinance,
which would then become effective in thirty days. The City Clerk will have the ordinance
published within fifteen days, if adopted.

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
3 CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING TITLE 10, CHAPTER
10.44, OF THE CARLSBAD MUNICIPAL CODE BY THE
4 REVISION OF SECTION 10.44.540 TO ESTABLISH A PRIMA
FACIE 40 MILE PER HOUR SPEED LIMIT UPON ARMADA DRIVE
5 FROM PALOMAR AIRPORT ROAD TO ITS INTERSECTION WITH
LEGOLAND DRIVE.

The City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, hereby ordains as follows:

SECTION 1: That Title 10, Chapter 10.44 of the Carlsbad Municipal Code is amended

by the revision of Section 10.44.540 to read as follows:
9 "10.44.540 Armada Drive:
Upon Armada Drive from Palomar Airport Road to its intersection
with LEGOLAND Drive, the prima facie speed limit shall be
forty miles per hour."
12 EFFECTIVE DATE: This ordinance shall be effective thirty (30) days after its adoption;
13 and the City Clerk shall certify the adoption of this ordinance and cause it to be published at least
14 once in a newspaper of general circulation in the City of Carlsbad within fifteen (15) days after its

INTRODUCED AND FIRST READ at a regular meeting of the Carlsbad City Council on
the 11th day of December, 2007, and thereafter.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a Regular Meeting of the City Council of the
City of Carlsbad on the 18th day of December, 2007, by the following vote:
AYES: Council Members Lewis, Kulchin, Hall, Packard and Nygaard.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.
ABSTAIN: None.
