ITEM EXPLANATION:
The term of Don Christiansen expired in April, 2006. Mr. Christiansen was originally appointed
in October 1997 to fill the remainder of an unexpired term, was subsequently reappointed in
June 1998 and May 2002, and has served nine years and four months.
Since Mr. Christiansen was appointed to represent the category requiring "a different
recognized expertise or interest in architecture, archeology, history, biology, engineering,
geology, or a related field", one appointment is needed to represent this category.

2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, APPOINTING ONE MEMBER
3 TO THE HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION

5 WHEREAS, the term of Don Christiansen expired in April, 2006; and
6 WHEREAS, Mr. Christiansen was appointed to serve in the category requiring "a
7 different recognized expertise or interest in architecture, archeology, history, biology,
8 engineering or geology or related field";
9 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of

Carlsbad, California, as follows:

1. That the above recitations are true and correct.

13 2. That the following person is hereby appointed to serve as a member of the
14 Historic Preservation Commission for a term to expire in April 2012, in the category
15 requiring "a different expertise or interest in architecture, archeology, history, biology,
16 engineering or geology or a related field":
