REQUEST FOR OUT-OF-STATE TRAVEL TO ATTEND
CLIMATE CHANGE SYMPOSIUM IN TEMPE, ARIZONA

RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No. 2008-077 approving out-of-state travel for one Carlsbad staff member to
attend the American Public Works Association Climate Change Symposium in Tempe, Arizona.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
This is a nationwide symposium which explores mitigation and adaptation concepts impacting public
works departments and highlights how local governments can impact the level of greenhouse gases
in the atmosphere.
This symposium will provide insight regarding certain measures that, if used properly and
continuously, can create a more stable climate and reduce global warming.
This request is for travel approval for Cari Dale, Public Works Manager.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT:
None.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The cost to attend the conference will be approximately $900, which includes travel, lodging,
registration and meals. Funds are available in the Environmental Resources Management Team
(ERMT) budget to cover all estimated costs.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
3 CARLSBAD. CALIFORNIA.

WHEREAS, the City Council concurs that it is in the public interest to authorize out-of-

state travel for members of the Carlsbad Environmental Resources Management Team (ERMT) to
6
attend the American Public Works Association Climate Change Symposium.

WHEREAS, funds are available in the FY 2007-08 budget of CERMT.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad,

California, as follows:

1. That the above recitations are true and correct.

2. That permission is granted to Cari Dale to travel out of state to attend this
conference.13
