RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt resolution No. 2008-109
Resources Corporation.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
Carlsbad's CityStuff program is an outreach program presented by employees and volunteers. In 2002
the City collaborated with Junior Achievement to enrich the educational experience of the youth of
Carlsbad. Each spring, CityStuff volunteers are assigned to a classroom where they introduce the
concepts of democracy and free enterprise.
Donations are solicited to offset the City's costs associated with printing classroom lessons. Poseidon
Resources Corporation has made a $2,260 donation to cover the cost of reprinting the Carlsbad
Becomes a City booklet.
FISCAL IMPACT:
A donation of $2,260 by Poseidon Resources Corporation is to be appropriated to the CityStuff account.
This donation will allow the CityStuff program to continue to educate children about democracy and their
local government.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT:
This activity is not a project and is therefore not subject to State CEQA pursuant to State CEQA
Guidelines Section 15060(c)(2).

CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING A DONATION
3 FROM POSEIDON RESOURCES CORPORATION TO THE
4 CARLSBAD CITYSTUFF PROGRAM.

WHEREAS, Poseidon Resources Corporation has made a contribution of $2,260
6
to the Carlsbad CityStuff program to print a booklet titled "Carlsbad Becomes a City;"
7
8 and
9 WHEREAS, this booklet allows Carlsbad third-grade students to learn the
10 complete history of how, when and why the City of Carlsbad was incorporated; and
11 WHEREAS, the City of Carlsbad accepts the gifts to the Carlsbad CityStuff
12 program and appropriates the funds to the said account;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
15 Carlsbad, California, as follows:
16 1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
17 2. That the City Council accepts the gifts from Poseidon Resources
1 8 Corporation on behalf of all citizens of Carlsbad and hereby appropriates
19 the donations to the CityStuff program fund.

of the City of Carlsbad on the 15th day of April, 2008, by the following vote to wit:
