RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No. 2008-273 appointing one member to the Arts Commission.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
Gary Hill has resigned from the Arts Commission. Mr. Hill was originally appointed in
August 2001 and was reappointed in March 2005. One appointment is needed to fill this
position.
Copies of applications received in calendar year 2008 are on file in the Office of the City
Clerk.
Other members of the Arts Commission are: Francis Carrillo, Sherman DeForest, Heath
Fox, Rita Francis, Barbara Iserloth and Sibylla Voll.
NOTE: Members of the Arts Commission are subject to the provisions of the Political
Reform Act, and must file a Statement of Economic Interests, Form 700.

CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, APPOINTING ONE MEMBER
3 TO THE ARTS COMMISSION

5 WHEREAS, Gary Hill has resigned from the Arts Commission leaving a term that
6 expires in March 2009; and
7 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
8 Carlsbad, California, as follows:
9 1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
10 2. That the following person is hereby appointed to serve as a member of the
11 Arts Commission for a term to expire in March 2009:

RE: Arts Commission
Dear Mayor Lewis and City Council,
Due to unforeseen circumstances I will be relocating my principle residence
outside the City of Carlsbad. Paragraph 2.18.030 of the Carlsbad Municipal
Code requires that members of the Arts Commission be residents of the City
of Carlsbad. Therefore, I offer my resignation as an Arts Commission
member as of July 1, 2008.
I have enjoyed my time serving on the Arts Commission and hopefully made
a difference in the community.
