CONSTRUCTION OF THE FY 07/08 CONCRETE
REPLACEMENT, PROJECT NO. 6013

RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No. 2008-297 accepting the contract for construction of the FY 07/08
Concrete Replacement, Project No. 6013, as complete, and direct the City Clerk to record a Notice of
Completion and release bonds in accordance with State Law and City Ordinances.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
On February 19, 2008, Portillo Concrete Inc. was awarded a contract in the amount of $87,478 for the
FY 07/08 Concrete Replacement, Project No. 6013.
Portillo Concrete Inc. substantially completed the concrete work on August 13, 2008. City staff has
inspected the work and found it to be satisfactory. Staff recommends acceptance of the improvements
by the City Council.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT:
The approval of a Notice of Completion is a ministerial process and is exempt from the requirements
of CEQA pursuant to Section 15268 of the State CEQA Guidelines.

WHEREAS, the construction of the FY 07/08 Concrete Replacement was substantially

completed on August 13, 2008; and
6
WHEREAS, all work has been completed to the City's satisfaction by Portillo Concrete
Inc.; and

WHEREAS, the formal project Notice of Completion has been prepared; and
9
WHEREAS, all project costs have been established to date.10
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad,11
California, as follows:12
.o 1 • That the above recitations are true and correct.
14 2. That the FY 07/08 Concrete Replacement project, specifically identified as
15 Project No. 6013, is deemed complete and is hereby accepted by the City Council of the City of
1@ Carlsbad.
17 3. The City Clerk of the City of Carlsbad is hereby authorized and directed to
18 execute and record the Notice of Completion for the FY 07/08 Concrete Replacement, Project No.
19 6013.
