RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Ordinance No. CS-014 amending Title 10, Chapter 10.44 of the Carlsbad Municipal
Code by the addition of Section 10.44.860, to establish a prima facie 40 mile per hour speed
limit on The Crossings Drive from Palomar Airport Road to its northerly terminus.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
Ordinance No. CS-014 was introduced and first read at the City Council meeting held on
November 4, 2008. The second reading allows the City Council to adopt the ordinance,
which would then become effective in thirty days. The City Clerk will have the ordinance
published within fifteen days, if adopted.
FISCAL IMPACT:
See Agenda Bill No. 19,626 on fife in the Office of the City Clerk.

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
3 CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING TITLE 10, CHAPTER
10.44, OF THE CARLSBAD MUNICIPAL CODE BY THE
4 ADDITION OF SECTION 10.44.860 TO ESTABLISH UPON THE
CROSSINGS DRIVE A PRIMA FACIE 40 MILE PER HOUR
5 SPEED LIMIT FROM PALOMAR AIRPORT ROAD TO ITS
NORTHERLY TERMINUS.6
The City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, hereby ordains as follows:
SECTION 1: That Title 10, Chapter 10.44 of the Carlsbad Municipal Code is amended

by the addition of 10.44.860 to read as follows:

"10.44.860 The Crossings Drive. Upon The Crossings Drive
10 from Palomar Airport Road to its northerly terminus, the prima
facie speed limit shall be forty miles per hour."

12 EFFECTIVE DATE: This ordinance shall be effective thirty (30) days after its adoption;
13 and the City Clerk shall certify the adoption of this ordinance and cause it to be published at
14 least once in a newspaper of general circulation in the City of Carlsbad within fifteen (15) days

INTRODUCED AND FIRST READ at a regular meeting of the Carlsbad City Council on
the 4th day of November. 2008, and thereafter.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a Regular Meeting of the City Council of the
City of Carlsbad on the 18th day of November, 2008, by the following vote to wit:
AYES: Council Members Lewis, Hall, Packard and Nygaard.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: Council Member Kulchin.
ABSTAIN: None.
