RECOMMENDED ACTION:
To adopt Resolution No. 2009-098
Resources Corporation.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
Since 2002, the city has collaborated with Junior Achievement to enrich the educational
experience of the youth of Carlsbad. Each spring, CityStuff volunteers are assigned to a
classroom where they introduce the concepts of democracy and free enterprise.
Donations are solicited to offset the city's costs associated with the classroom lessons.
Poseidon Resources Corporation generously offered to donate the cost of binding of theTast
Facts 101" books to be used by the students participating in the CityStuff program.
FISCAL IMPACT:
A donation of $2,250 by Poseidon Resources Corporation is to be appropriated to the CityStuff
account. This donation supports the efforts of the CityStuff volunteer program in the continuing
education of the children about democracy and their local government.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT:
This activity is not a project and is therefore not subject to State CEQA pursuant to State CEQA
Guidelines Section 15060(c )(2)

CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING A DONATION
3 FROM POSEIDON RESOURCES CORPORATION TO THE
4 CARLSBAD CITYSTUFF PROGRAM.

6 WHEREAS, Poseidon Resources Corporation has made a generous contribution
7 of $2,250 to the Carlsbad CityStuff program for the cost of binding the "Fast Facts 101"
8 books to be used by the students participating in the CityStuff program.

10 WHEREAS, Carlsbad third-graders will learn a great deal about government and
11
the issues important to governing at a local level; and

WHEREAS, the City of Carlsbad wishes to accept the donation to the Carlsbad
15 CityStuff program and appropriate the funds to the Communications Department;
16
17 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
18 Carlsbad, California, as follows:
19 1. That the above recitations are true and correct.

2. That the City Council accepts the donation from Poseidon Resources
21
Corporation on behalf of all citizens of Carlsbad, and hereby appropriates the
donation to the Communications Department for use in the CityStuff program.

PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a Regular Meeting of the City Council
of the City of Carlsbad on the 12th day of May, 2009, by the following vote to wit:
AYES: Council Members Lewis, Kulchin, Hall and Blackburn.
