RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No. 2009-106 appointing one member to the Carlsbad
Tourism Business Improvement District Advisory Board (CTBID).
ITEM EXPLANATION:
One appointment to the Board is needed to fill a vacancy created by the expiration of the
term of Ted Vallas.
The Carlsbad Tourism Business Improvement District (CTBID) Advisory Board was
established by the City Council in November, 2005. The purpose of the Advisory Board
is to make recommendations to the City Council regarding expenditures for the programs
and activities of the CTBID, to make recommendations to the City Council regarding the
annual budget of the CTBID, and to provide end of year financial reports of CTBID
operations as required by the City Council.
In December 2006, Council amended the Carlsbad Municipal Code eliminating the
residency requirement for this Board. Appointees, however, must be assessees of the
District.
Other members of the Carlsbad Tourism Business Improvement District Advisory Board
are: April Shute, Robert Cima, Barbara Howard-Jones, Timothy Stripe, Bill Canepa, and
Hector Becerra.
NOTE: Members of the Carlsbad Tourism Business District Advisory Board
are subject to the provisions of the Political Reform Act, and must file a
Statement of Economic Interests.
Applications received in calendar year 2009 are on file in the Office of the City Clerk.
