Pursuant to Section 14581 (a)(5)(A) of the California Beverage Container Recycling and Litter

greater.
The per capita amount calculated by the State is based upon the population, as of January 1, 2008, in
incorporated areas of a city, as stated in the Annual Demographic Report submitted to the Governor
by the Department of Finance. The City of Carlsbad is eligible to receive $26,955 for this program in
fiscal year 2009-10.
Staff will submit the application form to the State that describes the recycling activities for which the
funds mentioned above will be expended. Staff is requesting the funds focus on the purchase and
installation of recycling containers for use in public spaces and targeted areas such as gas stations, oil
change facilities and car washes, promotional and advertising programs, internal programs and
educational programs. The promotional and advertising programs are intended to utilize print media
and to disseminate information to the public on recycling programs available within the City of
Carlsbad.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT:
The approval of this grant application is not considered a project under the California Environmental
Quality Act and, therefore, is not required to go through environmental review.
FISCAL IMPACT:
