RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No. 2009-206 appointing one member to the Planning
Commission.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
Sondra Boddy has resigned from the Planning Commission. Ms. Boddy was appointed in
April, 2007 to fill an unexpired term. She has served two years and three months. One
appointment is needed to fill the vacancy.
Other members of the Planning Commission are: Julie Baker, Bill Dominguez, Farrah Douglas,
Hap L'Heureux, Marty Montgomery and Julie Nygaard.
NOTE: Members of the Planning Commission are subject to the provisions of the
Political Reform Act, and must file a Statement of Economic Interests, Form 700.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT:
Pursuant to Public Resources Code Section 21065 and CEQA Guidelines Section 15378,
this action does not constitute a "project" within the meaning of CEQA and therefore, does
not require an environmental review.
Applications received in Calendar Year 2009 are on file in the Office of the City Clerk.

CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, APPOINTING ONE MEMBER
3 TO THE PLANNING COMMISSION

5 WHEREAS, Sondra BODDY has tendered her resignation from the
6 Planning Commission leaving an office with a term that expires in April
7 2011;and
8 WHEREAS, one appointment is needed to fill this position.
9 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Carlsbad, California, as follows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
12 2. That the following person is hereby appointed to serve as a member of the
13 Planning Commission for a term to expire in April 2011:

Dear Mayor Lewis and Council Members:
Due to an unforeseen change in my personal circumstances, I am moving out of the City
temporarily. Therefore, it is with great regret that I must resign from the Planning Commission
effective August 15.
As my family and friends will tell you, my desire to continue serving on the Planning
Commission was the only reason why I did not decide to move sooner. It has been a great
experience and I have truly appreciated having the opportunity to serve.
I plan to move back to Carlsbad next year. I look forward to finding ways to re-connect with and
serve the community at that time.
